Duck, NC (Sunday, May 25, 2008)

Gorgeous morning. I finally was able to sleep in a little and got up ~9am. Most people just had bagels for breakfast, but I cooked eggs, leftover steak, and cheese grits for Ed and I. The wind is light and it looks like it's going to be the warmest day so far.

We spent most of the morning and early afternoon relaxing at the beach. I was finally able to put the beach umbrella up, so we had some nice shade. It was warm in the sun, but the wind made it perfect. Everyone was out there and we mostly just relaxed. I could have taken a nap. Isabella played in the sand and Ed & I played Prokadima (paddle ball), but we're not very good. Jeannette and I were actually pretty good. Lincoln had a great time too. He's a beach bum, even though he won't swim without someone else out there.

We mostly just bummed around all afternoon too. Ed and Jeanette, then Andrew and Hazel took turns in the hot tub. I showed Ed and Jeanette how to put up my small tent, because they're taking it with them on their trip. Sarah then shaved off our mohawks. We went back down to the beach for a little while late in the afternoon for another round of Prokadima and pictures in the waning evening light.

Soon after, it was time to start dinner, with lots of hors d'oerves (chips & cheeze whiz, Ed's calamari, shrimp cocktail) and a late dinner. We made teryaki-marinaded seafood kabob's, with shrimp, tuna steaks, scallops, bacon, green peppers, mushrooms, and pineapple. It was really good, and turned out pretty well for our 1st time, though not perfect. It took longer than expected, and as it cooked most everyone else cleaned the house.
After dinner we watched a little tv, then went to bed. Everyone was expecting a long day on Monday.

We miss you guys too! We hope to see you, Lincoln, and your little one really soon! Also, you better come to visit us, regardless of where we wind up.
