Lot's of Stuff

We certainly have lots of stuff we want to put on the blog, but it has been an absolute whorl-wind of business since Christmas.  In that time, we've gotten 2 major snow storms (including one as I write this), a smaller snow event, bought and moved into a new house (from which I'm writing this right now), started the kids in new schools, won a national championship (ok, not me, but the Auburn Family!), etc., etc., etc.  We'll get back on the blog as soon as things settle down.

Just after the 2nd big snow.

Here are a few pictures and videos from just after the 2nd major snowstorm in less than a week. - another 18+ inches!

Jackson wasn't crazy about the sledding.  Too many spills face-first into snow banks and hard ice earlier in the winter, I guess.

This was a big night because we got a package in the mail from our friends the Ireland's.  They sent us a bunch of Auburn stuff for Lilly, and a couple of things for Jackson.  He wasn't so sure about this gift at 1st, but now he loves it.

Unfortunately, that was about it for snow this year.  We were supposed to get yet another big snow just a few days later, but it fizzled out and was just a few inches here, and I even ended up driving into work that day.  I can't complain, though - the snow totals for our area this year completely obliterated all past records.  It was a wonderful, snow, cold winter - just they're supposed to be!  I can't wait for next winter.

Update:  Spring has been wierd this year.  We usually have a 2 to 3 month, gradual warm up, but this year only a couple of weeks after the last snow, it was very warm.  it went from very cold winter directly to late spring without anything in between.  Also very rainy - record rain in March.  Since then, it's ben unusually warm - even hot.  Summer-like temps.  Uhhhh.  Bring on winter!

Snow # 2

The 1st big snow storm happened on February 6th.  Just a few days later, we got hit by an even bigger storm! This one was a little different though - very wet, heavy snow compared to the light, powdery snow from a few days before.  Lots of trees came down with this 2nd storm.

This picture is cool because it demonstrates how fast the snow was coming down.  Under that snow is a landscape light that's supposed to shine on a sign.  That light gets very hot, but is was so cold and snowing so hard that the snow accumulated faster than it melted.

Between the Snows

Just a short post tonight.  I wanted to post a couple of pictures that we took between the 2 big snow events.  There aren't many, because it was only a few days between them. 

As much as I love the snow, I also love it just after the snow is passed.  The sky is so clear and blue, and it contrasts so vividly with the pure white snow.

I really wanted to write all about all of the AMAZING snow we got in a few different storms, but it is now almot May, so I don't remember all of the details I wanted to write about, and I also don't have a lot of time to spnd on this, so I'm pretty much goimg to let the pictures do the talking. 

Before we get to the snow, though, just a few pictures.  Here's Jackson coming home with his Granny Wiley to meet his new baby sister (remember that he and I had been quite sick so Sarahr, Lilly, and Mrs. Wiley were in quarentine).

This is the kind of reception I get every night when I get home.

After he screams and runs up to me, he runs away screaming as I pretend to be a dinosaur sneaking up on him.  He runds until he falls or gets to the couch, and then just lays there until I get him.

Ok, finally, the snow.  We had had a few small (few inches) snows this winter since December, but January had been pretty quiet.  Then, on February 6th, we finally got a big Nor'Easter, which usually bring sus our biggest snows.  I gorgot how much snow we got with this one, but it was in the upper teens (in inches), with blizzard conditions for much of the time it was coming down.  Needless to say, I was in heaven.  I know I've said it a million times, but  I love the snow.  I love the way it looks, I love that weather in general, I love shoveling it, I love playing in it, walking in it,  . . . . .

Sarah's mom lives in South Florida and wasn't exacty prepared for the weather.  I think this was the extent of her only trip outside that day.

We weren't very prepared either.  Jackson doesn't have any snow boots.

Around mid day when things began to slack off, I started to clean off the cars enough to move them up the hill so that the snow plaws could clear out our parking areas.  Here's my beautiful truck.

December 2009

Since I'm so far behind yet again, and since I have so much less time to do this with the new baby, I'm going to breeze through December and mostly just provide a bunch of pictures. 

I put this one in here just to show that Jackson has the funny habit of sometimes sticking out his tounge when he's concentrating.  Jon David does the exact same thing except that JD also drools on himself.  Just kidding.

We went to a christmas party for Sarah's work friends.  Jackson was a hit - he loves to dance:



On the night of the 19th we got an awesome snow!  About 13" at our house, with ~16" in Philly.  This was the biggest December snowfall ever in Philly!  I was afraid that this would be our 1 big snow that we seem to get each year.  Little did I know that it would be only the 1st of 4 so far!!!  I love the snow - I can't say it enough.  This was a very dry, powdery snow, so no snowmen.  We tried to take him sledding but it was even too soft for that.
