Dino Press Conference

We had a press conference 2 Fridays ago for the arrival of the dino bones. It was a big deal. Newspaper and TV news reporters were there, as well as people from National Geographic. It was a very damp, drizzly day, but still pretty cool because the whole thing was down on the docks in the Port of Philadelphia. Very high security, but they put our shipping container by itself along the edge of the dock and set up a tent and stage beside it. All of our Philly paleo friends / colleagues came as well. I always wanted to go down to those docks. Those container cranes are enormous!

There were tons of newspaper articles and news stories on the events of the day. Here are a few related links:

The following Monday was exhausting. The container was loaded onto a truck and taken to our staging area downtown. We got to Philly before 8am and started unloading the bones, all 16 tons of them, at about 10:30. We worked non-stop and hard until after 1am the next morning. I was as sore and tired as I've ever been. We have many jackets that are just enormous - the size and weight of a small car. We even broke one of our heavy duty chains trying to pick one of them up.
